There will be no market in Worskop today; Wednesday, November 18 after Bassetlaw Disrtict Council has cancelled it due to safety concerns of bad weather.
Jonathan Brassington, communications manager for Bassetlaw District Council, said: “Unfortunately we have had to cancel today’s market as high winds last night prevented the setup of the market stalls and canopies.
“The winds were so strong that the stalls were blowing across the streets even before the canopies were attached, presenting a risk to both people and buildings on Bridge Street.
“In addition to us being unable to set up, the MET Office forecast is predicting gusts of up to 43mph in Worksop today. “Whilst we appreciate that this will leave traders and members of the public disappointed, our overriding concern will always be the safety of the public and our staff.”
