Bryan Morgan, of Coppice Road, was surprised to see the colourful parakeet pecking at the bird feeder in his garden this morning (Wednesday, February 17).

The pensioner is now desperately trying to reunite the bird with its owner as he worries for its safety.

Bryan said: “It’s a lovely little thing and it seems quite happy in my garden, but I’m worried it will be killed by a sparrowhawk if nobody comes forward to claim it soon.

“I have contacted the RSPCA who told me to put it in a box, but I’d never be able to catch it. I’m desperately trying to locate its owner as it must have escaped from somewhere.”

The parakeet is thought to be an Eastern Rosella, which is native to Tasmania.

Anyone with information should call Bryan on 01909 474423.
