Worksop: Loss of 18 jobs as Tesco announces store closure

The store is one of the five stores across North Notts and South Yorks that will be closed, it was announced today.

It comes after Tesco pulled out of the new Carlton Road build and announced it would be closing 43 of its UK stores earlier this month.

A letter addressed to Bassetlaw Council from Tesco’s Cheif Executive Dave Lewis read: “I wanted to inform you of our announcement to colleagues at Raymoth Lane Express Store in Worksop.”

“As you have read in the media our performance as a business has fallen significantly short of where we would want it to be and in January I announced that to protect the future of the business we would be closing 43 unprofitable stores.”

“It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that the Raymoth store is one of the 43 we plan to close.”
