Personal trainer and head of 365 Functional Fitness, Howard Hill, was inspired to tackle the current obesity epidemic and create Health Awareness Day after hearing that Bassetlaw has been named Fat Capital of the UK.

Attendees to the event will be offered a full health MOT, along with the chance to gather expert information on fitness and nutrition.

Howard has been a qualified personal trainer for eight years and launched his business in 2007.

And now he believes he could help local people get their health back on track.

I have had meetings with our local MP John Mann and spoken with Barbara Brady and Sarah Beard from NHS Retford about tackling the rising problem of obesity within Bassetlaw,” he said.

“On 18th January, I am holding a health awareness day down at my studio and would like to invite the people of Bassetlaw to come down and gather some information and tips on fitness and nutrition.”

Anyone that is interested in losing weight and wants good solid advice in person can come down and speak to a Personal Trainer.

“I will also be having a physiotherapist there from Sheffield offering advice and information on any concerns or problems people may be experiencing, due to their additional weight.”

“I think this will be a great way to start the new year and my doors will be open to all who are interested and want help,”

“Free information sheets will be available on the day and people can also pay a small discounted fee for a full health MOT, which will include body fat testing, metabolic ageing, blood pressure testing and other useful fitness indicators.”

“Not everyone can afford a personal trainer, and I want to kick-start people’s new year’s resolutions and put my knowledge to good use by offering all members of the community a chance to get free advice about losing weight, getting healthy and improving their fitness.”

Health Awareness Day will take place at Howard’s studio in the new Creative Village in Worksop.
