Worksop: Local pub wins award

The Mallard received the Spring Pub of the Season award.

The pub stands in the grounds of Worksop Railway Station and was presented the prize by the North Nottinghamshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

The chairman of CAMRA’s North Nottinghamshire branch, Steve Bownes, said the Mallard was a great pub to go into at the awards.

He added that the public house was always friendly and welcoming.

In addition he recognised that the real ale on offer at the pub was always well kept.

CAMRA was founded in 1971 and has been campaigning for real ale, pubs and drinkers’ rights ever since.

The campaign has over 200 branches around the UK and all of their activities are led by volunteers.

The award was given to landlady Mel Cadman on Wednesday 13th August.

Mel said she was pleased to gain this award.

The occasion was well attended by both CAMRA members and regulars of the pub.
