Worksop: Local pest slapped with two-year ASBO after rampage of violence

Hayley Owen, of no fixed abode, is now banned form entering or remaining in areas of Worksop between the boundaries of Gateford Road, Sandy Lane, Turner Road, Blyth Road, Memorial Avenue, Priorswell Road, Eastgate, Kilton Road and Newcastle Avenue.

In addition, the order also restricts Owen from entering or remaining in a number of shops outside the area from which she is excluded. It also prohibits begging or demanding money and encouraging or inciting others to do so throughout Worksop

Finally, Owen is also prohibited to associate with Joanne Smith, Matthew Morris or Danny Markham within the areas listed above.

The full order was granted on Friday 9th January by Mansfield Magistrates Court and will remain in place until 8th January 2017.

If Owen breaches any part of these orders she faces up to five years imprisonment or a fine.

Coun Julie Leigh, cabinet member for neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council, said: “The harassment and abusive behaviour that this individual subjected her victims to is totally unacceptable. The ASBO, confirms that Bassetlaw District Council and its partners are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour in our communities.”

“We will do everything within our power to ensure that residents and businesses are not harassed or intimidated by a small minority of individuals who show no care or consideration for others.”

Gerald Connor, community safety co-ordinator at Bassetlaw District Council said:“These prohibitions have been put in place to prevent Hayley Owen from causing distress and harassment to the general public.”

“The breach of an ASBO is a criminal offence and if the public is a witness a breach they can report it by dialling 101.”
