Worksop: LGBT flag ceremony mark's upcoming Pride fesitval

Worksop has been adorned with rainbow LGBT flags in preparation for the town's first gay pride festival this weekend.

Festival organiser Crystal Lucas, members of Worksop Out Wednesdays from the Centre Place andBassetlaw District Council chairman Councillor Jim Anderson also raised the LGBT flag in Civic Square to mark the historic occasion.

Coun Anderson said in his speech: “The United Kingdom is a ccountry founded on equality, compassion, justice and tolerance.

“The district is determined to see these fine British values upheld in Bassetlaw.

Crystal finished by quoting actor Daniel Radcliffe: “You don’t have to be gay to be a supporter, you just have to be human.”

Worksop Pride will take place at the Masonic Hall on Sunday, July 10 from 12pm to 6pm.

The event is free and will feature entertainment, stalls and a celebrity guest.
