Worksop: Lego workshops at Harley Gallery prove a big hit with school kids

Groups from primary schools across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire rushed to take up invitations to the Harley Gallery.

The excitement has been generated by the Electro City workshops, which will run alongside the upcoming Brick City exhibition.

Children will explore the display, which features more than 50 models of world famous landmarks from St Pancras station to the Colosseum, then to design, build and light their own Lego city.

Dayle Green, the gallery’s education and engagement manager, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing children’s reactions to the buildings and how it inspires them to create their own cityscapes.

“I always try to offer workshops to give children a different experience from what they might learn in school.”

The workshops, taking place in November, will test useful skills such as problem solving, team work, planning and imagination, and link in to the science and technology curriculum.

Brick City will run from October 17 to January 10, 2016.
