Worksop: Jobs under threat as Wilko announces roles are under consultation at town base

The consultation is likely lead to job cuts just before Christmas.

Wilko has not yet commented on how many jobs are under consultation.

A spokesperson for Wilko’s said, “This ongoing programme is essential to maintaining Wilko’s unique place as a modern, national retailer.

“We have to ensure we have the right people in the right places to keep the business moving forward. New technologies, processes and ways of working have led us to identify certain posts which are no longer appropriate to our focus on variety, value, choice, quality and customer service.”

“The company says the business remains financially robust in a challenging trading environment.”

“The proposed changes will allow it to react quickly in the fast moving retail environment by ensuring its structures and cost base are in line with its trading performance and the market place.”
