Worksop: Job Centre set to move to council offices

The new open plan facilities will see the Job Centre based on the ground floor of Queen’s Buildings fromMonday 27th April.

The move means that Worksop residents will be able to access the District and County Council, Job Centre, A1 Housing, Citizens Advice Bureau and Credit Union Services from one central town centre location.

It is understood that by sharing accommodation, the council and Job Centre are aiming to reduce overheads and property costs and provide greater value for money to the ratepayer.

Neil Taylor, chief executive of Bassetlaw Council said it ‘made sense’ for council and Job Centre staff to be based under one roof due the similarity of the roles.

He said: “We look forward to welcoming colleagues from the Job Centre to Queen’s Buildings in April.

“Our client base is very similar and it makes sense for us to share facilities and provide a central hub for residents to access a whole range of services.”

“It also keeps costs and overheads down and importantly for the town centre economy, means that Job Centre and council staff are based in Worksop,” Mr Taylor added.
