Worksop: Inspirational teen Cody is up for a top award

Cody Watson, 18, of Manton Crescent, is up for the ‘outstanding achievement’ accolade in this year’s Notts County Council’s 4Uth young people’s awards after being nominated by her youth worker.

The determined youngster, who was bullied at school and is now taking a BTEC in health and social care, has gone from strength to strength over the years.

She has been offering support at a number of youth clinics, helping other young people talk through their difficulties.

As her confidence has grown, Cody has also assisted in organising residentials and tuck shops with the youth service, taken part in a local pantomime, and even auditioned for the X Factor.

Chris Warren, group manager for the Youth Service at Notts County Council, said: “Cody’s nomination explains how she has grown with confidence since being with the youth service.”

“It is a clear demonstration about how she has battled adversity and has developed so much as a young person with a huge list of achievements to her name already. She is a worthy nominee for this year’s 4Uth awards.”

The awards are a celebration of excellence and achievement among young people in Notts including those who have triumphed over adversity, those who care for people around them, those who are working hard within their community to make a difference.
