George Huthart, headteacher at Norbridge Academy, set himself the challenge to help raise money for Neurocare, a charity which supports people suffering from brain conditions or injuries.

The money raised by Neurocare is used to buy life saving equipment for use in the Neuro theatres of Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Over the last year Mr Huthart has walked more than 1,200 miles, and is now selling each mile for £1 in aid of the charity.

Anybody who sponsors Mr Huthart will have their name put on a special flag which will be displayed at the school.

But not content with having reached his goal, Mr Huthart also completed a solo crossing of the Lyke Wake Walk.

This is a 42 mile walk across the North Yorkshire Moors.

Mr Huthart said: “I am happy to have already achieved my target of 1,000 miles but I want to keep on walking to raise as much money as possible.”

“Neurocare is an incredible charity which is very close to the heart of everybody at Norbridge Academy.”

“They have supported some of our staff in the past and this is one way that we can give back to them.”

“Completing the Lyke Wake Walk in winter was another massive challenge but it was certainly worth it to raise money for Neurocare.”
