Worksop: Gun owner had over four times permitted ammunition allowance

A shooting enthusiast has pleased guilty to possessing more than four times the amount of ammunition his licences allowed.

Mark Tunley, 50, of Shepherds Avenue, Worksop, had 2631 rounds of ammunition at his home, when the maximum he was allowed was 600.

Defending, Mr Lewis Perry said: Mr Tunley has held a shotgun licence since 1981 and a firearms licence since 1983.”

“He secures his guns very safely and he was given this ammunition years ago and had simply forgotten about it.”

Mr Tunley had his firearms licence revoked but kept his shotgun licence.

He was also fined £400, plus £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
