Worksop: Guardian Rose for ‘one in a million’ Norbridge Academy worker

Dawn has looked after Josh at the school, since he was three years old.
Both are leaving Norbridge at the end of term.

Sarah and Richard Turner, nominated support assistant Dawn Harrison of Norbridge Academy with a Guardian Rose award on behalf of their son Josh.

The couple said that Mrs Harrison worked with Josh for nearly eight years and helped to enhance both his learning and social skills.

Sarah said: “We will never be able to thank Mrs Harrison enough for the support and care she has shown to Josh and us as parents.

“We truly believe she has had a huge positive impact on Josh’s life and for this we say ‘thank you from the bottom of our hearts’.”

When Josh joined the school, aged four, he was apparently very anxious and had severe language and communication difficulties as well as dyspraxia and visual impairment.

Mrs Harrison, who had now retired, helped to Josh to read and write and make significant progress with his learning.

Sarah added: “Thanks to Mrs Harrison’s continued support Josh is now a confident fun loving boy.”
