Worksop golfer Lee Westwood is reportedly being supported by his family in his home town following the breakdown of his marriage.
The former world number one golfer, who has played in nine Ryder Cups, has allegedly split with his wife Laurae, 40, after 16 years of marriage.
His estranged wife is said to be caring for their children - Sam, 14 and Poppy, 10 - at the family’s mansion in Florida.
Meanwhile, Westwood is reportedly being consoled by his parents in Worksop.
The golfer said: “I don’t comment on my private life.”
Westwood was named player of the year for the 1998, 2000 and 2009 seasons.
He has won the 2000 European Tour Order of Merit and the renamed 2009 Race to Dubai, and is widely considered as one of the best golfers without a major championship victory.
In October 2010, Westwood became the world number one golfer, ending the reign of Tiger Woods and becoming the first British golfer since Nick Faldo in 1994 to hold that position.
He held the number one position for a total of 22 weeks.
A spokesman for Westwood declined to comment.
