The day is being organised by the Canal and River Trust, Chesterfield Canal Trust, the Angling Trust, Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw and Bassetlaw District Council, and supported by the Grafton Angling Association, Worksop and District Anglers Association and the Lock Keeper Pub.

Glyn Williams, member of the Canal and River Trust’s East Midlands waterway partnership, said: “We held a similar event last year which was a great success and this promises to be even more fun and a great opportunity for people to try something new.”

Families are encouraged to wear waterproofs and suitable footwear and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

There will be free trips on the Chesterfield Canal Trust’s boat Hugh Henshall.
