Worksop: Councillors donate £1050 to David Hawke toy appeal

Members of Bassetlaw District Council have dug deep and donated £1050 to an appeal.

Eighteen councillors donated to the David Hawke toy appeal, which has been running for the last 20 years.

Coun Julie Leigh, cabinet member for Neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council said: “We all wanted to give to the children and young people of Bassetlaw, whose Christmases’ may be a little brighter, thanks to the hard work of people like Val and Hawke’s.

“They are our children and we hope the money will ensure some of the children will have a present this Christmas.”

“We felt that it was a really good cause and Val works so hard on the toy appeal to make sure everyone gets a Christmas.”

Val Casey, office manager at David Hawke, said: “I couldn’t believe it when I found out, I am so pleased and thankful the council have donated this amount of money. It will make a huge difference to the children.”
