Worksop: Council leader ‘hugely disappointed’ that local Tories are challenging 15k funding to Worksop Town Football Club
Leader of Bassetlaw District Council Simon Greaves has said it is ‘hugely disappointing’ that local Tories are challenging the decision to provide Worksop Town Football Club with financial assistance.
On Tuesday 2nd September the proposal by Mr Greaves to give £15,000 to safeguard the future of the world’s fourth oldest football club received unanimous support at a cabinet meeting at Worksop Town Hall.
However Greaves’ recommendation was met with some opposition and concern on the night.
On Saturday Mr Greaves said on Twitter: “16th September, 6:30pm, Worksop Town Hall - local Tories will be attempting to stop 15k council help to @worksoptownfc.”
