Worksop and Carlton ward members, councillors Julie Leigh, David Pidwell, Sylvia May, Robin Wilde, David Pressley and Rebecca Leigh have all donated funds from their members community grants to support the club and help to continue it’s growth.

Tracy Fuller, development officer for the club said: “Thank you to all the councillors who donated this money.”

“It’s fantastic to receive and will help up to grow the game in Worksop and allow more of our coaches to gain recognised qualifications.”

“Last year we were able to send four people on a Level 1 coaching course and we hope to send more coaches on their Level 2 courses next year.”

The club also runs a scheme called ‘Back To’, which encourages women and girls who may have played hockey as a child or at school to return to the game after a long break.

And, thanks to its success, Worksop Ladies Hockey Club has been able to run a third team over the last three seasons, and last year gained promotion in the Notts League.”
