WORKSOP COMMUNITY AWARDS 2015: Make your nominations now!

In the past we have run the successful Guardian Rose Awards and Best in School Awards - but we have decided to join the two together for an extra-special night later in the year.

We have been inundated with your fantastic Guardian Rose nominations in 2015 and they have brightened up our pages week after week.

We are now particularly keen to boost the nominations for our school categories, so here are the top awards up for grabs this year: Best Teaching Assistant; Best Environmental School; Teacher of the Year; Head teacher of the Year and Best School.

The glamorous ceremony will take place at the Masonic Hall in Worksop on Wednesday, October 7.

Deadline for voting is Tuesday, September 16.

For the star that shines the brightest among the army of kind-hearted people regularly giving up their time to help out in the town’s schools.

The judges are looking for someone for whom nothing is too much trouble and whose generous efforts have changed the lives of those round them.

Best Lunch Supervisor of the Year

The judges are looking for that special member of staff who regularly serves up a slice of sunshine in their role, whether providing tasty, nutritious meals in the

canteen or helping outside in the playground, ensuring students are happy and safe during their lunch-breaks.

Best Sports Team - Sponsored by McDonald’s

This award is aimed at recognising the district’s budding athletes, who not only set-out to achieve great things on the pitch or field but also display true sporting grit, team effort and sportsmanship.

Sports Person of the Year - Sponsored by McDonald’s

This award is aimed at individuals, who display true sporting grit and sportsmanship in addition to achieving great things on the pitch or field and have the ambition and drive to be the best.

Most Improved Student - Sponsored by Domino’s

Do you know someone who has perhaps not always found academics easy but strives to succeed and has improved their grades throughout the school year? Are they on course for excellent results in the future?

Family Member of the Year

Have you got that special someone in your family that you couldn’t be without that does everything that keeps your family unit running smoothly through the good times and the bad, is always their to offer support and advice but most of all does the little things that keeps a smile on your face.

We are searching for that someone special in our community who is under the age of 18? Perhaps they volunteer, fund raise or make a difference to your life in some way? Please tell us about the young citizen in your life.

Triumph Over Adversity - Sponsored by Peacock Windows

Is there a special little someone you know who has overcome the most troublesome of times? Have they overcome an illness or tragedy and you want them to know just how strong and special you think they are?

Best Teaching Assistant

The judges would like to reward the adaptable, hardworking people who make teachers lives easier with their constant support, while improving the learning experience for our district’s youngsters and in many cases providing invaluable help for pupils with special needs and producing dramatic results.

Best Environmental School

The judges are looking for the school that proves they are making a difference to the environment within their local school and community.

Teacher of the Year

The panel is looking for individuals who inspire devotion and respect from their students in equal measure, as well as forging strong relationships with parents and going beyond the call of duty to improve school life inside and outside of the classroom.

Head teacher of the Year

The judges are hoping to hear tales of inspirational leaders who have turned schools around, of heads who thrive on daily challenges and those who enthuse staff as

well as pupils to give 100 per cent.

Best School

Every year we announce an overall winner who has been presented with a Guardian Rose during the year. In 2014 Travis Irons picked up the top accolade for calling 999 - while dressed as Superman - when his nan fell over. Who will be your hero this year?
