Worksop: Classroom build at Edmund St Hillary provides much-needed primary school places

Sir Edmund Hillary, based on Kingsway, is one of the 11 schools across Notts to benefit from the £5.5minvestment with the extra school places becoming available this month.

The construction of the new classrom over the summer holidays has created space for 30 extra pupils.

This means that Year 3 and 4, who have previously been taught in three very large mixed age classes, now each have two classes in each year group. Each of these four classes is now also full.

New headteacher Christopher Guest, who joined the school at the start of this term, said: “The new classroom is the final stage of making Sir Edmund Hillary a two-class per year group school, effectively doubling the school’s size since it was built.

“The children are delighted with their smart new learning space. Sir Edmund Hillary is a great school and the extra classroom helps us continue to provide the very best for our children.”
