Worksop: Charity wants your votes for TV jackpot

Local children’s charity, Bassetlaw Play Forum have been given a fighting chance to keep the spirit of play alive.

Their project Never Too Old to Play has been shortlisted by the ITV show People’s Millions.

The project aims to encourage children to choose exciting play challenges in place of technology.

Chairman, Alison Noble, said: “The idea for the project came about because children seem to be getting older younger.”

“Modern way of life sees technology winning through and traditional shared play experiences are taking a back seat.”

“Isolated play does not help children grow and develop and vital life skills are not gained.”

“Through the project, children will take up a variety of play challenges, in exchange for achievement awards.”

“The wider community will also be brought together, as play experiences outside of the home will be on offer.”

“Generation skill swapping, workshops, mystery play challenges and fun family days will add to the excitement and keep children playing.”

If the charity can win the public vote, thousands of children will benefit.

Next Tuesdsay (26th November), the Never Too Old to Play project will go head-to-head with another charity with a chance to win the funds it needs.

The project will feature on ITV’s nightly regional programme Calendar next Tuesday.

Bassetlaw Play Forum needs your help to win, so please show them your support by voting.

Voting hotline numbers will be released in next Tuesday’s Daily Mirror and on the People’s Millions website at www.peoplesmillions.org.uk. You can vote from 9am to midnight on the day.
