Notts County Council has made several changes including painting double yellow lines on Gladstone Street.

In 2011, residents said that the junction of Gladstone Street and Gateford Road was dangerously congested after a parking bays were painted there and warned children on their way to and from Redlands School risked being hit.

Now Notts County Council has made changes to the road. These include removing the parking bays near the junction and introducing double yellow lines to deal with congestion, changing some residents only bays to allow dual parking use during the day and providing 30 minute limited parking on some sections.

Mike Barnett, from Notts County Council’s major projects and improvements team, said: “The original scheme on Gladstone Street became effective on 31st March 2011.”

“Following concerns from local businesses and residents, however, revisions were made to the scheme and these came into effect on 28th June this year. These include changes to limited waiting and double yellow lines on the junction with Gateford Road to deal with issues around conflicting traffic around the junction.”

County councillor Kevin Greaves campaigned for the changes saying that the junction as it was had been ‘very, very dangerous’.
