Worksop: Chance to have your say on children’s home build proposals

A public exhibition by G4S children’s homes is being held at Worksop Rugby Club on Stubbing Lane on Tuesday 7th July from 4.30pm to 7pm, with team members on hand to answer questions.

Around 130 homes in the immediate area have received letters inviting them to the exhibition day and other local stakeholders have also been informed.

The children’s home, which will be based at Meadow Holme Farm, would be home to a maximum of five children up to the age of 18.

Paul Cook, managing director of G4S Children’s Homes, said: “We want to give local residents the opportunity to find out the facts about our proposed new children’s home in Worksop.”

“This would be a normal family home for children whose circumstances mean they can’t live at home or with foster families – often as a result of situations out of their control.”

Paul Cook continued: “We all have a responsibility to provide safe environments for children from all backgrounds.”

“And we’re keen to talk to as many local people as possible about how this new children’s home can be a positive part of the community.”

Steve Edwards, service director for children’s social care at Notts County Council, told the Guardian: “The council is working to ensure that our looked after children live as close to their local communities as possible.”
