Michelle Pressley is the activities coordinator at the care home and sits with the residents by playing games and entertaining them.

The dedicated worker was nominated by Edna Staveley, who visits the care home regularly to sing and read poems to the residents with her niece.

The rose - from Walkers House of Flowers in the Priory Shopping Centre - is presented to a member of the community or group for outstanding work.

“She is a very caring lady and all the residents love her,” Edna said.

“My niece Jane and I go regularly to sing and read poems to the residents and Michelle is always so welcoming.”

“I think she deserved the recognition for the work she does.”

“It is her personality, she is such a nice person.”

“She is devoted, there are not enough adjectives to describe her.”

Michelle also arranges entertainments outside of the care home including trips and takes some of the residents to church.

Manager at the Old Vicarage, Pauline Clews, said: “She is very outgoing and very caring.”

“She sits with the residents if they are poorly.”

“She is very, very important to us, I would not want to lose. Her efforts are much appreciated.”
