Horizon Care Homes have submitted revised plans to Bassetlaw Council for two care homes – Greenacres Grange and Wincroft Grange – to be built on the three-acre site off Wingfield Avenue.

The project will create 200 full and part-time jobs staffing and running the two care homes.

In addition, 80-100 jobs will be created or safeguarded for the construction process, which will take 58 weeks.

“The plans for the Greenacres site would be a huge economic boost for Worksop, they bring with them jobs and economic benefits for existing businesses in the area,” said Laura Higginbottom, managing director of Horizon.

“Our homes in Dinnington and Sheffield have been welcomed by the local residents and by the councils who can see the benefits they bring with them.”

“Wincroft Grange and Greenacres Grange will be two stunning buildings providing the best possible environment for people aged 18 and over who need support and care.”

The plans would see the demolition of the existing adult training centre and hostel on the site, to be replaced by the two homes.

The plans have been revised following public consultations which saw concerns raised over the original height of the building roofs and a proposed wind turbine, The new designs give the buildings a flat roof, while the wind turbine has been scrapped.

The plans have received backing from Bassetlaw MP John Mann, who was pleased at the prospect of new employment and business coming into the area.

He said: “The more jobs the better for the area, we want the business and the jobs and a good variety of different job options available to local people, I welcome any investment in our area.”

A council spokesman said: “The council can confirm that it has received amended plans in relation to the planning application from Horizon Care Homes Ltd, the full details of which can be found on the council’s website.”

The revised proposal is currently out for further public consultation until 5th September, after which it will then be re-considered by the council.

“We look forward to working with Bassetlaw Council and local businesses and residents to move this project forward and bring a much-needed jobs and economic injection to the area,” added Mrs Higginbottom.
