Worksop: British Heart Foundation hosts party to say thanks

Shop staff and volunteers at the Worksop British Heart Foundation (BHF) Furniture & Electrical store have thanked residents for their support over the past year by hosting a party and inviting the whole community.

BHF shops in Notts have raised £735,000 over the past year - and to show their appreciation they held the free event at the Bridge Place store in the town centre on Tuesday 19th August.

The cash raised has enabled the BHF to fund 171 defibrillators, 41 healthcare professionals and life-saving diagnostic equipment, such as ultrasounds and ECG machines in the local area.

Chris Ward, BHF area manager, added: “Everyone had a great time at the party on Tuesday and we’d like to thank everyone who came along. Hopefully they learnt a bit more about how their support of our shops helps the BHF as a whole.”

“Quite often people don’t realise that the bed, sofa or television that they donate to the Worksop store actually raises vital funds and helps pay for anything from an echo machine in the local hospital to a community heart support group.”

“We couldn’t fund this life-saving equipment or research in Worksop if it wasn’t for the local community.”

It is believed that around 1,353 people die from coronary heart disease (CHD) in Notts every year.
