The 57-year-old will pilot the Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet called ‘Ed Force One’ when the rock band star at Donington Park in Leicestershire in June 2016.

The group will take to the stage on the final day of the festival, which takes place 10-12 June.

The enourmous place is said to be double the size and three-times the weight of the Boeing 757 used on their previous tours.

“Although this is our sixth time headlining at Castle Donington, it’s the first time we’ve been able to land Ed Force One right on the doorstep of the festival site, Dickinson told the BBC.

The licenced pilot is currently recovering from cancer, having been diagnosed last year when two tumours were found at the back of his tongue.
