Worksop: Banned driver caught taking children to school

A man has admitted driving some children to school while disqualified and under the influence of drugs.

William Roe, 26, of Dukeries Crescent in Worksop, was caught driving a car with a woman and children in the back.

Police knew he was disqualified and he later tested positive for traces of heroin.

The car belonged to the woman’s partner but she felt he was not able to drive, having just returned home from a night shift, so she asked Roe to drive the children to school.

Defending, David Grant said: “He knew he should not have driven and accepts it was a stupid thing to do.”

Sentencing was adjourned until 16th January.
