Firefighters were called to the scene at around 5pm on Sunday 12th October.

It is understood that a recently installed rubber fishing platform was set alight.

Crews spent around 30 minutes tackling the blaze, fire chiefs confirmed to the Guardian.

Sandhill Lake has seen a number of improvements in the last few months including footpaths, barrier fences and gates.

This is as well as the installation of the new fishing platforms and furnishings.

The work was undertaken in partnership with various organisations and groups with funding from WREN, Notts County Council, Bassetlaw District Council and Friends of Sandhill Lake.
