The centre is gearing up for a spectacular show with special guest, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, from ITV’s popular teatime programme, The Chase, turning the lights on at 4:30pm on Saturday 22nd November.

A spokesperson said: “There will be lots to enjoy throughout the evening, with entertainers, costumed super heroes, choir singers and a mobile disco.”

The Help for Heroes shop in the Priory will open its doors again this year for the switch-on and the whole Christmas period to help raise vital funds for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

The charity will be selling Christmas gifts and Help for Heroes merchandise, as well as a bric-a-brac stall and raffle.

To get everyone in the Christmas spirit, carols and other Christmas favourites will be sung by the Priory School Children’s Choir. Members of the Salvation Army will also be fundraising and performing throughout the evening.

Centre Manager, David Aunins, said: “We’ve got lots planned for our Christmas light switch on this year. It’s always an exciting event and a great way to start the Christmas festivities.”

“The light switch-on really brings the local community together to celebrate and we hope to see lots of families out enjoying the evening’s entertainment.”

The fun is scheduled to start at 2pm. The Salvation Army will perform until 3:30pm when the Priory School Children’s Choir will take over the entertainment until the light switch on at 4:30pm.
