Flags will be raised in four locations across Bassetlaw - Retford Market Square, The Old Market Square, Worksop, The Town Hall and War Memorial in Harworth – and will fly for the duration of Armed Forces Week, which runs 22nd-28th June.

Flags will be raised at 10am in each location with the council’s leader, Coun Simon Greaves and chairman Coun Gwynneth Jones performing the honours in Worksop, and deputy leader Coun Jo White and vice chair Coun Jim Anderson in Retford.

Cllr Greaves said: “I’m proud that Bassetlaw will be able to honour the brave service men and women who make up our Armed Forces and be part of a national celebration that recognises their efforts.”

Coun Jones said: “It is extremely important that we recognise the significant job our Armed Forces do on a daily basis and, by raising flags across the district, we are showing our support for each and every person who is still serving or has served our country.”
