Worksop ambulance march plans finalised

DETAILS of tomorrow’s march in Worksop against proposed changes to the ambulance service have been finalised.

On Wednesday 24th October protestors will march along Bridge Street starting outside WH Smith at 10am.

Public services union UNISON has organised the protest to campaign against East Midlands Ambulance Service’s plans to close Worksop and Retford ambulance stations.

“We had initially hoped to march on a route around the town centre using road closures,” said march organiser Emma Bardney.

“Notts Police has also agreed to police the march. But while we want to get our message out there and cause a bit of disruption, we don’t want to risk public safety.”

“With it being a busy market day we will hold a static protest on the old Market Square near the town hall.”

The town hall will be open and hot drinks will be provided.

Families are also welcome to attend as the Unison Bunny will be there to entertain children and give out balloons.

At 12 noon the staff, union representatives and Save Our Services members will march to Bassetlaw Hospital.

Then at 1pm they will march to The Ashley pub on Carlton Road for food and drinks.
