Jessica Peters, aged 19, is one of the scheme’s success stories and will continue to work at the Rotherham Vision Express store. She was named most enthusiastic apprentice at the recent graduation ceremony.

She said: “I joined the apprenticeship scheme because I wanted to gain experience, and it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me - as clichéd as that may sound.”

“I genuinely love my job, even though it hasn’t been always been easy. I’ve learnt to listen the industry.”

“I want to thank Vision Express for giving me the opportunity to start a career and take it as far as I want to go.”

A total of 79 apprentices have been placed at Vision Express since the scheme launched. It gives candidates the opportunity to earn while they learn, with assessor support and hands-on experience.
