Kath Stubbins, 86, from Worksop, was presented with the accolade in a surprise ceremony by her Save the Children colleagues on Wednesday August 26.

Friend Kathleen Marple, who nominated Kath for the Guardian Rose, said: “Kath is a great lady and her charity work is absolutely commendable.

“She might be eighty six years young, but still works in the Save The Children charity shop on Central Avenue two days a week and has been here for 29 years.

“She also still works at the Royal Voluntary Service’s Bassetlaw coffee shop who have awarded her for her service.

For more than 20 years, Kath volunteered with the flowers at the Priory Church and was also a regular visitor at the Victoria care home.

“ I myself think she is a lovely lady and cannot do enough to help people who are in need,” Kathleen added.

Our Guardian Roses are generously donated by Walker’s House of Flowers, situated in the Priory Shopping Centre.
