Woman seriously injured in crash on Rainworth bypass

A car left the dual carriageway section of the A617 Rainworth bypass between Mansfield and Rainworth at about 1.30am on Saturday as it approached the traffic lights at the junction for the former Rufford Colliery site.

The Renault Clio car, which was travelling towards Rainworth, came to rest on its side several metres into the grass verge area.

The woman driver of the car, aged in her 20s, was able to get out of the car but was later taken to hospital where she remains.

Her injuries are serious, although they are not believed to life-threatening.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the crash should call police on 101.
