A woman who crashed her car was found to be almost three times over the drink-drive limit, a court was told.
Sarah Knowles, 32, of Main Road, Boughton, crashed her Ford KA after driving from her friend’s house on the evening of February 5.
Police received the call at 11pm and found the car on Whinney Lane in Ollerton to have had ‘considerable damage’, according to Anna Pierrepoint who outlined the case for the crown at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court.
Officers said Knowles was clearly in drink and was breathalysed where she blew 95 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath, The legal limit is 35 mcgs.
Admitting a charge of driving while over the limit, Knowles represented herself in court and explained to the magistrates that she had been at a friend’s house with her daughter but had to get out quickly because of a domestic violence incident.
She said that she had a breakdown in January over her own family troubles.
She said: “I did the wrong thing, it’s the first time I have had a drink in about six months.”
A report from the probation service said that Knowles was “full of remorse and regrets her behaviour”.
She was a community order with eight-weeks’ curfew, a 23-month ban from driving and made to pay £145 in costs.
