The J B Priestly play takes place in the sitting room of Alderman Helliwell’s house in Clecklewyke, Yorkshire, one evening in 1938.

It concerns three middle-aged married couples who tend to look down on anyone who does not come up to their high moral and religious standards.

All married on the same day, they gather at Helliwell’s home to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary when they discover they are not legally married.

Panic sets in at the thought of the scandal being reported in the local newspaper and to make matters worse enter Lottie Grady - a good time girl from one of the men’s past, but which one?

Soon all three couples find themselves re-evaluating their marriages and themselves.

Directed by Shirley Hill, this promises to be a great comedy for all ages.

Tickets for the 7.15pm show at Whitwell Community Centre are priced £5 and can be bought by calling 01909 723490 or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/wwwwhitwellplayers
