WIN! Tickets to Kate Rusby at City Hall

The defining voice of contemporary English folk music, Kate Rusby is coming to Sheffield City Hall on 21st October.

And The Guardian has a pair of tickets and a CD to giveaway to one lucky reader.

Kate Rusby’s exquisite interpretations of traditional songs along with finely wrought self-penned tunes have won her an audience that reaches way beyond the genre.

A rare achievement for a folk artist but entirely understandable given Rusby’s expressive vocals that invest whatever she sings with a completely irresistible emotional depth.

This year heralds a landmark year for Kate being her 20th year in the music industry.

After a quiet first half of the year concentrating on writing and recording a new album to celebrate this anniversary named simply Twenty, and taking a little time out for the arrival of her second child, Kate began touring again in late Summer.

As a highlight to this celebratory year Kate will be performing two special concerts, one southern concert at the Royal Festival Hall, London and one in her home county of Yorkshire at the Sheffield City Hall.

These concerts will echo the sentiments of her new album revisiting some old favourites with new ideas along with a sprinkling of much loved classics from her back catalogue.

As ever, Kate will be joined on stage by the brilliantly talented musicians who form part of her band.

And to add to the party atmosphere there will also be special guest appearances throughout the evening from some of the artists who have contributed to Kate’s new album.

Rusby’s wondrous singing and hugely engaging Yorkshire wit combined with the intuitive support of her band ensure that audiences will be treated to a truly remarkable and unforgettable concert experience.
