Whitwell: Tyres fire suspected as deliberate
A pile of tyres went up in flames near Whitwell this morning (Sunday 1st September 2013).
Firefighters from Staveley were called to the blaze in Southfield Lane, near to the quarry, at 6.43am.
They found a number of tyres on fire on open ground.
The police were also informed of the incident because it is thought the fire was started deliberately.
By 7.12am the fire was out and crews left the scene shortly afterwards.
