During a recent meeting, residents said problems at the park on Bakestone Moor were a big issue.

PCSO Phil Levers, of Derbyshire Police, promised to crackdown on the anti-social behaviour.

He said: “I’ll be carrying out increased patrols and speaking to those responsible about the effect that their behaviour may have on the community.”

“Persistent offenders will be dealt with appropriately, with warning letters being sent out to parents.”

“I’ll also be working alongside partner agencies to consider setting up diversionary activities for youngsters in the area to help deter the issue,” he added.

Speeding vehicles around Whitwell was another issue residents were worried about.”

Officers will conduct speed checks alongside Derbyshire Constabulary’s roads policing unit with fines being issued and enforcement action taken where necessary.

Some residents also voiced concern about nuisance off-road motorbikes and 4x4 vehicles on The Pit and other open public spaces.

Police are to carry out regular patrols and speak to those responsible in a bid to combat the problem.

PCSO Levers said: “I am glad to have met and spoke with a lot of residents during the recent meeting and they were able to voice concerns about issues that matter to them.

“I’ll be working to tackle these issues over the coming months and they will be reviewed at another meeting in the future.”

Work first began in 2010 to install a new multi-use games area and play park after three years of consultations, talking to suppliers and sourcing funding for all stages of the redevelopment.

Anyone who wants to report a crime should call police on 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
