Whitwell: Have your say on police priorities

Residents in Whitwell are being encouraged to voice their opinions on local policing priorities at an upcoming meeting.

PCSO Phil Levers from the Whitwell Safer Neighbourhood Team will be on hand at the village’s Community Centre on Wednesday, 15th April, between 7pm and 8pm to meet with local people and chat about issues in their area.

Safer Neighbourhood meetings give people the opportunity to set the policing agenda in their communities, to tackle crime concerns and help implement lasting solutions.

The current priority for Whitwell is anti-social behaviour (ASB) on King Street in Hodthorpe.

Officers have been working to tackle this issue by carrying out regular patrols, seizing alcohol from underage drinkers, issuing letters and advice to those caught causing ASB and working with housing agencies and other organisations to ensure tenants are not in breach of contracts and behave responsibly.

PCSO Levers said: “I am looking forward to hosting this event and hope to see many local people there. It is important that residents have their say to help set priorities and tackle issues that matter most to them and their community.”

If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like to have your say, contact your local Safer Neighbourhood team on 101.
