The Conservation Volunteers use scythes to do grass cutting and clearance work. The group regularly do conservation projects, including Mercer’s Wood and Castle Hill Woods in Gainsborough.

Coun David Dobbie is a supporter of the group and last year gave £107 of his councillor initiative fund to buy 15 high visibility vests for volunteers. He joined the volunteers as they cut the long grass at the wildflower meadow in Theaker Avenue.
