West Lindsey: Scheme aims to improve health, wellbeing and independence

Lincolnshire County Council has been piloting the service called First Contact plus in West Lindsey and Lincoln, since August.

It gives people an easy way to access services and get information and advice on a wide range of subjects.

It also gives residents, aged 18 and over, an opportunity to report issues within their local community that concern them, and have these concerns addressed by the appropriate agency.

It works by encouraging people to complete a First Contact checklist.

The checklist is a simple questionnaire that helps to identify the advice and information someone might benefit from.

The person is then referred to trusted organisations who will contact them within 28 days with the appropriate information and advice.

The service is an extension of the successful First Contact service for people aged 60 and over.

Since 2008 this service has helped almost 8,000 older people in the county get help and support to continue living independently.

Anyone aged 18 and over in Lincoln and West Lindsey can take advantage of this service.

Over 60s County wide can continue to access the existing service.
