West Lindsey: Funding up for grabs for rural businesses

A free workshop, being held in Gainsborough will let rural businesses, farmers and community project leaders know how the grant could benefit them.

Leader grants can be accessed by businesses, farmers, foresters and those involved in tourism, heritage and community initiatives.

The workshops are aimed at those considering applying for the grants, as well as for stakeholders, consultants and those working with potential applicants.

Owen Bierley, West Lindsey District Councillor and chair of the Prosperous Communities Committee, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses in the district to learn about funding that could make a real difference.

“With tourism being one of our key areas of growth in West Lindsey, we encourage those who have ambitions to grow to attend.

“Local businesses are innovative and creative and this could well spur on those who have that potential.”

To secure funding, businesses must bring benefits to the rural economy, such as creating new jobs, growing businesses, improving productivity and efficiency or increasing the visitor numbers or providing new rural services.

The workshops will cover eligibility criteria, how to apply for a grant, tips on how to improve your application and details of how the funding will be distributed locally through four Local Action Groups.

The session will be taking place at Gainsborough Old Hall in Parnell Street, Gainsborough, on Tuesday, September 29, from 1.30pm to 3pm.
