The town is set to be hotter than Cyprus tomorrow as temperatures hit 21C thanks to hot air flowing up from the continent.

It comes as some lockdown restrictions lift today with the ‘stay at home’ order scrapped and households allowed to mix in back gardens.

Simon Partridge, Met Office forecaster, said: "It's been a long and bleak winter in lockdown, with a mixture of all sorts of weather.

"But as the country takes its next step on the roadmap we're in for some long-overdue sunshine.

"People will be able to meet up with other households in back gardens and, dare I say it, enjoy a barbecue."

The warm spell could see the UK break its March temperature record which currently stands at 25.6C on March 29 1968 at Mepal, Cambridgeshire.
