Flood warning for Worksop as Storm Ciara batters UK

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for Worksop today, as Storm Ciara batters the UK.

River levels are forecast to rise at the Blyth river gauge in response to a heavy band of rain which is moving across the area today, Sunday February 9.

The agency warn that the flooding of roads and farmland is possible, and at-risk areas include low-lying agricultural land and roads including Priorswell Road, Central Avenue, Steeley Lane at Worksop, Snape Lane at Serlby, Mill Lane and Great North Road at Scrooby.

River levels are expected to remain high until tonight.

Worksop was heavily affected by flooding in November last when the River Ryton burst its banks following heavy rain.

Homes and businesses were evacuated, and the Red Cross were called in to assist.

Today, over 72 flood warnings and 154 flood alerts are in place across the UK as Storm Ciara causes disruption.
