WEATHER WARNING: Nottinghamshire hit by heavy snow storm

The heaviest snowfall of the year has hit many parts of Nottinghamshire this evening (26th December).

Dangerous driving conditions have been reported due to the snow storm.

There are amber ‘be aware’ weather warnings issued by the Met Office, which is expected to last until 6am tomorrow morning.

Rain, sleet and snow is expected to spread eastwards across the area but has been forecast to clear overnight.

Weather forecasters are uncertain as to how much snow will fall, but at least several centimetres are expected, with a maximum of 15cm.

Motorists are advised to take care on the roads could turn icy.

Emergency services are urging drivers and pedestrians to remain extra vigilant.

A Met Office spokesman said: “The public is advised to take extra care.”
