WEATHER WARNING: Disruption expected after forecasters predict 50mph winds until tonight

The Met Office has issued a ‘yellow warning’ with forecasters predicting winds of up to 50mph across the region until later tonight.

The winds are expected to cause disruption to travel services throughout the day.

A Met Office chief forecaster said: “A further depression will move quickly east across the UK on Monday, crossing northern England in the afternoon. A swathe of gales is expected to the south of the depression’s track. Although wind strengths will probably be slightly less than Sunday’s system there is still the possibility of some localised low level impacts.

“There remains some uncertainty regarding the northern limit of the gales and this warning will therefore be kept under review.”
