WEATHER: Ice warning after snowfall


Wintry showers have swept across the region, leaving behind snow, sleet and ice in many places this morning, February 3.

The Met Office issued a ‘yellow’ weather warning for ice and snow in some parts of the East Midlands last night, and drivers are being cautioned about hazardous driving conditions.

The snow, which has settled mainly in Derbyshire, has caused also caused severe major roads to be closed today.

The weather will brighten up during the morning with the scattered wintry showers expected to continue in some places during the day. Highs of 6°C.

Outbreaks will spread from the west overnight, but expected to be dry again by the morning.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Please be aware of the potential for difficult driving conditions and some disruption.”
